St. Joseph’s Catholic Elementary School, in Williston, has planned a fall salad bar with information about local producers for ND Farm to School Week Sept. 14-20. Taking the week one set farther, the art department will be doing a still life lesson with vegetables.
I can’t imagine a more wonderful painting than one of vegetables. Perhaps the students could take it one step farther and create greeting cards for a fall fundraiser… poems or verses about vegetables could be included as a graphic design lesson. It would also be very nice to have an art show in the lunch room showing off the talents of these fortunate young students – eating and drawing fresh local produce.
It doesn’t get any better than that. How do you Farm to School. Let us know.
