Start a school garden with a little help from your friends

The North Dakota Farmers Market and Grower’s Association is pleased to announce that grant funds are available to begin an edible school garden/orchard and/or greenhouse project through the Green and Growing Initiative.  Grants up to $500 will be available on a competitive basis. $5,000 has been allocated for this program in 2014.  Any school who has previously received a school garden grant from the Green and Growing Coalition will not be eligible.

The deadline for this grant is February 14, 2014!

This is a great opportunity to receive funding; we are actively seeking applicants.

Some of the goals that we hope schools will adopt include:

  • Connecting people to plants and the planet
  • Increased community engagement
  • Service learning opportunities
  • Better nutritional habits
  • Student marketing opportunities
  • Food safety curriculum
  • Growing one’s own food

Deadline: Grant applications must be received by February 14, 2014.
A decision on the grant requests are expected to be made by February 21, 2014.
